What is rainfall? What are the types of rainfall?
What is rainfall?
When the water vapor from the surface water comes in contact with air, it becomes lighter, rises upwards, gradually becomes saturated, comes in contact with excess cold, condenses, and turns into water droplets, then it drops to the earth in the form of droplets, then it is called precipitation.
In other words, when a naturally floating cloud condenses and falls to the ground under the force of gravity in the form of water droplets, it is called precipitation. This rainfall is sometimes heavy and sometimes falls in the form of a drizzle.
How many types of rainfall and what are they?
There are 4 main types of rainfall for example:
1. Convectional Rainfall
2. Orographic Rainfall
3. Cyclonic Rainfall
4. Collision Rainfall
Convectional Rainfall
Convectional rainfall is the precipitation that occurs as a result of overheating of the earth’s surface.
In other words, during the day, the water vapor in the rays of the sun rises straight up and when it comes in contact with the cool air, the water vapor first turns into clouds and then rain and comes down directly, this is called convection rain.
Orographic Rainfall:
The word “rock” means mountain and the word “uplift” means rising. Orographic rainfall is the precipitation that occurs when ordinary water vapor condenses on the mountain and condenses.
In other words, the precipitation that occurs when watery vapor-laden humid air gets trapped in a high mountain climbs up a mountain village, comes in contact with the cool air from above, and causes the precipitous slope of the condensed mountain to fall.
Cyclonic Rainfall:
Cyclonic rainfall is precipitation that occurs when water vapor rises and condenses. That is, when the cool air layer is said to be heavy then it moves downwards and the warm air layer rises up along the slope above the cool air layer.
Thus, as the warm air rises, it expands and cools, and eventually condenses and rains. This is called cyclonic precipitation or cyclonic precipitation or cyclonic precipitation.
Collision Rainfall:
If hot and cold airs come face to face with each other parallel to the surface, then there is a collision between the two. That is, the polar cold and dry air and the tropical warm and humid airflow opposite each other and meet in the temperate zone.
The warm air cools and condenses in contact with cold air, causing precipitation. This is called Collision Rainfall. This type of rainfall is more common in the United States.
