Health benefits of Amla
Are you trying to chew an amla? You are not liking the taste? Are you thinking of throwing it out? Please don’t. At this point drink some water and you will get a sweet taste. This is the magic of amla.
In Ayurveda, amla is known as nectar fruit. Both the fruit and the leaves of amla are used in medicine as herbal qualities. Amla contains a lot of vitamin C.
According to nutrition scientists – amla contains 3 times more than guava, 5 times more vitamin C than citrus. It also has 5 to 20 times more than orange, 120 times more than apple, 20 times more than mango and 3 times more vitamin C than a banana.
An elderly person needs 30 mg of vitamin C every day. This amount of vitamin ‘C’ we can get from two amlas in a day.
Amla not only increases our food taste but also strengthens our immune system. It can destroy viruses and bacteria. There is preliminary evidence that amla juice works in arthritis and osteoporosis.
It has also been shown to be effective against some types of cancer.
The main role behind the function of the ‘anti-oxidant’ form of amla is considered not to be vitamin C, but rather to the substance called elazatanin.
